Top 10 Self Driving Cars in UK – 2022
With the UK government aiming to have self-driving cars on the roads by 2022, here’s a look at 10 of the most promising contenders.
Audi A8
The Audi A8 is a luxury sedan and the first car to have Level 3 autonomy in Europe. It has a top speed of 130 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 5.4 seconds, which makes it quick enough for most people to enjoy driving it most of the time.
The interior is spacious with lots of room for passengers, especially in the back seat where there’s plenty of legroom as well as storage space under each front seat that can hold items up to 22 inches long by 10 inches wide. The trunk is also large enough to fit luggage if you need to take more than one bag with you on your trip
In terms of safety features, this car comes with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keeps assisting system (LKAS), front collision warning system (FCWS), and rear cross-traffic alert system (RCTA).
Tesla self-driving car: Tesla Model S
The Tesla Model S is a five-door luxury liftback car. It was introduced to the public in 2012 as a pure electric sedan with a range of up to 500 miles (800 km). The base model starts at $71,000 (£58,200) and can be configured with several options including:
- 5 seats (5+2)
- 7 seats (7+)
- Sunroof or panoramic roof.
Volvo XC90
The Volvo XC90 is a plug-in hybrid car with self-driving capabilities. It has a range of 400 km and fuel consumption of 3,2l/100km. It has four separate drive modes, which are:
- Pure (no powertrain assistance)
- Hybrid Auto (Hybrid Engine + Electric Motor)
- Engine Off on Climb (+GRANDEUR SEATS ONLY)
- The power mode is activated by pressing the button on the center console next to the gear lever
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
You’re probably wondering what the Mercedes-Benz E-class has to do with self-driving cars. Well, it turns out that a lot of driverless vehicles are actually pretty similar to what we already have on the road. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is an example of this; it’s not exactly a self-driving car, but it does have some autonomous capabilities.
It’s also one of the best cars in its class and has been for years—and I think it deserves to be named one of the top ten self-driving cars in Britain.
Jaguar XF
The Jaguar XF is a luxury saloon car. It’s available both in diesel and petrol variants and features a 0-60 mph time of 5.4 seconds. The car is available in 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive configurations.
